I was profoundly saddened to learn of the passing of Dr. Clyn Barrus of the BYU School of Music. He was a tremendous friend and teacher. When Dr. Barrus came to BYU in 1985, he brought a level of energy and enthusiasm to the school's orchestras seldom seen among teachers of music. Those of us who performed in his groups over the years felt of his love and respect. One of Dr. Barrus' greatest gifts was his ability and willingness to develop close, personal relationships with his students.

I am truly saddened that so many young students, including my own children, will not have the opportunity to know and learn from this great musician and human being. He will be greatly missed.David Johnson
