Dr. Hugh Wilford Christensen, 81, passed away peacefully at his home, after a prolonged illness on March 13, 1998.
He was born to Mary and David Christensen in Downey, Idaho on April 26, 1916. After attending public school in Downey, he served an LDS mission in Norway. He was educated at Utah State University and the University of Utah before receiving his Doctor of Dental Surgery at the University of Missouri at Kansas City. In Kansas City he met Nelda White and on May 26, 1943 they were married and sealed in the Logan LDS Temple. He served in the Army during World War II and the Korean conflict. He practiced dentistry for 35 years in Salt Lake City, and was a member of the American Prosthodontics Society. Throughout his life he served in many positions in the LDS Church and was extremely proud of the 28 years he sang with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir. In 1980 he served a second mission, with his wife, for the LDS Church to Jackson, Mississippi.He is survived by his wife, Nelda W.; a sister, Maureen Alley; sons, David G. (Peggy), Dale H., Don W. (Cheri), Dean J., Dwight G. (Kris); and daughters Janet (Scott) Lunt and Ruby (Marcus) Lunt; 28 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
He will always be remembered for his charity, honesty, and sense of humor. Although he had a successful career, his family always came first.
Funeral services will be held Monday, March 16, 1998 at 11 a.m. at the Stone Creek Stake Center, 1000 North 100 West, Bountiful. Friends may call Sunday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Russon Brothers Bountiful Mortuary, 295 North Main, and Monday at the church from 9:45-10:45 a.m. prior to services. Interment--Bountiful City Cemetery.
The family suggests donations to the Utah Alzheimer's Association in lieu of flowers.
