Our kind and beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, James Peter "Jim" Heaton, age 86, passed away at his home in Washington of natural causes on March 11, 1998.
He was born in Salt Lake City, Utah on May 16, 1911. He was adopted and raised by Daniel and Eva Heaton in Alton, Utah. He married Phyllis Swan Larsen on February 28, 1943 in Bicknell, Utah. Their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple in September of 1963.For several years Jim and Phyllis operated a Montgomery Ward store in Monticello. He was devoted to his family, whether as a son, brother, husband, grandfather or friend. Jim was loved by each person blessed to know him. With a lively spirit that enjoyed making jokes, laughing and horsing around, Jim endeared himself to everyone. In short Jim gave himself completely and unconditionally to those who knew him.
He is survived by his wife of Washington; children: Dan (Amalia) Heaton Elko, NV; Diann (Warren) Rogers Manti, UT; Paula Butler Monticello, UT; Becky (Joe) Peterson St. George, UT; Roger (Shawn) Heaton Montrose, CO. He was also close to a special daughter-in-law, Virginia Heaton Washington, UT; 13 grandchildren; brothers, Keith St. George; and Volma "Bud", sisters, Velma Stewart Las Vegas, NV and Cheryl Krivit St. Paul, MN. He is preceded in death by brothers, Devoe and Garn Heaton and sisters, Leda Bowlander and Marie Crosby.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 14, 1998 at 3 p.m. at Spilsbury & Beard Mortuary, 110 S. Bluff, in St. George, where friends may call for viewing Saturday from 1-2:30 p.m. Additional viewing will be held Monday, March 16, 1998 at the Therber LDS Ward Chapel in Bicknell, Utah from 10:30-11:30 a.m. Graveside services and burial will be at 12 noon in the Bicknell Cemetery under the direction of Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
