Fern Isabelle Wright Clissold, born March 11, 1912 in Salt Lake City, passed away March 11, 1998 in Sandy.

Daughter of Ellen Mae Fowler Wright and William Martin Wright. Loving wife of L. Eugene Clissold for 49 years. Active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Fern and Gene served as ordinance workers in the Salt Lake Temple for 16 years. Fern served in leadership positions in various church auxiliaries throughout her life. She lived in Hawaii for many years where she organized the first Daughter of Utah Pioneers camp. In her later years she organized the Three Fountains East DUP camp.She was active in the community and served as president of Women's Auxiliary of Utah Savings and Loan League and Sugarhouse Lady Lions. She enjoyed membership in DUP, B.H. Roberts Study Group, Pik Wik and Hawaiian clubs.

Fern is the mother of three daughters: Betty (John U.) Roberts of West Jordan, Utah; Momi (G. Paul) Buchanan of Saratoga, California; Karen (Frank G.) Horman of Sandy, Utah; grandmother of 16 grandchildren; great-grandmother to 29 and one great-great-grandchild. Preceded in death by husband, Gene; sister, Pearl Baxter; brother, Wayne Wright and granddaughter,

Annette Buchanan.

Her sweetness and loving service touched many lives.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 14, 1998 in the Wasatch Lawn Mortuary Chapel, 3401 South Highland Drive where friends may call from 12:45-1:45 p.m. prior to services. Interment Salt Lake City Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, family suggests contributions to the Daughters of Utah Pioneers Museum.
