Elva Clay Cowley Davis, 92, of Venice, Utah, died March 11, 1998 in Richfield, Utah.

She was born January 13, 1906, in Venice, Utah, to Joseph Curtis and Minnie Ann Wall Cowley. Elva married Stanley Heber Davis, November 24, 1926, in the Manti LDS Temple. He preceded her in death, December 4, 1984.She was the last surviving member of her family. She was an active member of the LDS Church and held many leadership positions. She was a visiting teacher for 43 years. Elva and her husband served as ordinance workers in the Manti Temple from 1972 to 1978. She really enjoyed having her grandchildren and great-grandchildren visit her. She loved gardening and flowers. Above all she loved her friends and neighbors in Venice.

She is survived by children, Raymond S. (Wyona) Davis, Bountiful; James Farrel (Marilyn) Davis, Venice; Clyde Jay (Kathy) Davis, Des Moines, Wash; Enid (Don) Jamison, Venice; Karen (Max) Turpin, Washington, UT; 15 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by husband; parents; 12 brothers and sisters.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 14, 1998, at 12 noon in the Venice LDS Ward Chapel. Friends may call at the Ward Chapel in Venice Saturday from 10-11:30 a.m. Burial will be in the Venice Cemetery. Funeral Directors, Neal S. Magleby and Sons Mortuary, Richfield, UT.
