Vaughn Holding Taylor, age 90, loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, quietly died of cancer, Monday, March 9, 1998, at home, surrounded by his family.
Born August 19, 1907 in Salt Lake City, Utah, he was the only child of Leonard William and Ruth Holding Taylor. He attended LDS High School, lettering in football, baseball and track. He then served a 25 month LDS mission to California. On August 19, 1931 he married his sweetheart, Ivy Olwyn Morgan in the Salt Lake Temple. Six children were born to them. Always an active member of the LDS Church, he served diligently in many callings in the Stratford Ward. He was a High Priest, a faithful home teacher even in his 90th year, long time Scout Master, Salt Lake Temple worker, and a name extraction worker. He was honored on February 16, 1978 for his years in scouting with one of the highest awards given a scouter, the Silver Beaver. He retired from Utah Power & Light after 36 years of service. He loved all sports; was an excellent ball player and golfer. We will miss him greatly.Survived by loving wife of 67 years, Ivy and children: Marilyn T. Hadley of W. Jordan; Pat (Bob) Marz of So. Ogden; Howard M. (Pam) Taylor of Murray and Leonard E. (Sandy) Taylor of Sandy; Marjorie (Brant) Barlow of American Fork: 27 grandchildren and 43 great-grandchildren. Predeceased by daughter, Sharon LaVon Taylor; grandson, Rusty H. Taylor and great-grandson, Ricky Petersen.

Funeral services will be held Friday, March 13, 1998, at 12 noon, at the Stratford Ward, 2605 South 1500 East. Friends may call Thursday evening, from 7 to 9 p.m., at the Holbrook Mortuary, 3251 South 2300 East, and at the church on Friday for one hour prior to the services. Interment: Salt Lake City Cemetery, 200 North N Street. Funeral Directors: The Holbrook Mortuary.
