David Garth Weatherbee, age 57, passed away March 1, 1998, doing what he loved, skiing.

David was born January 2, 1941, in Berwyn, Illinois, to Glenn Paul and Viola Hanes Weatherbee. He married Nona Cook on September 3, 1972, in Sun Valley, Idaho. He graduated from Westminster College in 1964, then moved to San Francisco to pursue a career in the insurance industry. David's love for skiing brought him back to Utah. He was a member of the ski patrol at Alta, where he met his wife Nona. In May of 1971 he was hired at Snowbird Ski Resort, where he worked until 1975. He then was hired by Solitude Ski Resort, where he was instrumental in its development. David remained at Solitude until 1981 as Vice President of Mt. Ops. Upon leaving Solitude, he worked for CTEC lift company, then became self-employed. David displayed great courage overcoming the challenges of a stroke in 1991.David is survived by his wife, Nona Weatherbee and daughter, Julia, of Salt Lake City, Utah; two brothers, James Weatherbee, Florida, Michael Weatherbee, Pennsylvania; one sister Kathy Ackland, California; and many other family and friends.

Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, March 11, 1998, 1 p.m., at the Christ United Methodist, 2375 East 3300 South. A second memorial will be held at Snowbird in the spring, date and time to be announced. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Westminster College or the American Heart Association. Funeral Directors: The Holbrook Mortuary.
