Forty-seven Utah students were selected to attend the 1998 High School Freedom and Leadership Youth Conference at the Freedoms Foundation at Valley Forge in Pennsylvania.

Some students attended a session March 5-8. The three-day converence includes a Freedom Summit where teens discuss with other students and learn how to define and support their values and positions on issues of freedom and justice. The Freedoms Foundation was established in 1949 to honor patriotism and good citizenship. It was founded on the inspiration of former President Dwight D. Eisenhower, who was chairman or chairman emeritus until his death in 1969.

Freedoms Foundation sponsors a number of education and awards programs and is supported by more than 5,000 members of volunteer chapters. It is also supported by corporations, foundations and civic organizations. Membership is open to anyone interested in ideals of the organization.
