Brigham Sofus Ostergaard, departed this mortal life and passed into the spirit world quietly and peacefully on Sunday, March 8, 1998 in St. George, Utah, at the age of 87 after bravely meeting the challenges of Alzheimers disease this past year.

Born, August 5, 1910, in Elsinore, Utah, a son of Ludvig Sofus Ostergaard and Inger Marie Pedersen. He was the ninth child of a family of thirteen children.Brigham was a man of God who devoted his life to his family and church. Ordained an Elder, Seventy and High Priest in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he served faithfully and well in many church callings including temple ordinance worker in the St. George Temple, High Priest Group instructor, bishop's counselor, branch president in Odense, Denmark, full-time missionary in the Denmark Odense Mission, two stake missions, stake building and facility manager, and flooring consultant for the church building committee. He was one of the most widely respected floor finishers in Southern California over a 40 year career. He retired to Santa Clara, Utah where he developed the successful Southern Utah Hardwood Floor Co. and organized his family Santa Clara ranch, productive of grains, fruit trees and small animals. His ranch, along with his horses and "tote-goats", made for many happy and exciting visits by his grandchildren. His greatest legacy was the example he set as a faithful father and priesthood holder in the service of his family and fellow man.

He married Marretta Isabel Crockett, they were later divorced, married Flora Hood, she died Dec. 19, 1961, married Danna Eckard Gaisford in the Los Angeles Temple, June 21, 1962.

Brig is survived by his wife, Danna Gaisford Ostergaard; children, Marettta Hatton (David), Deward Jerry Ostergaard (Nancy), Marie Ann Gaisford (Walter), Jerry Walmar Gaisford (Donna), and Judy Gaisford Atwood (John); 18 grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren; one brother, Orson Ostergaard; two sisters, Laska Pierce and Yorda Pitts .

Family and friends may call Wednesday evening, March 11th at the Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park, 3401 So. Highland Dr., SLC, Utah, from 6-8 p.m. Interment in the Live Oak Cemetery, Monrovia, Calif.
