Vere Fairchild, age 83, died March 8, 1998 at his home in Centerville, Utah, surrounded by his loved ones.
Vere was born on May 9, 1914 in Burley, Idaho to Ancel Clyde Fairchild and Mable Fletcher. He married Martha Sennie Cox on May 12, 1943 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. After living in Pocatello, Idaho, Elko, Nevada and Salt Lake City, they settled in Centerville where they've lived for 42 years.He was an Elder in the Centerville 7th LDS Ward.
He served in the Merchant Marines in World War II. A retired truck driver and Teamster, Vere loved his garden, his beautiful yard, traveling, music, literature, and especially people. Vere's wit and fine sense of humor will be missed by many.
He is survived by Martha, his wife of 55 years; son, Orvel Lynn and wife Lucy, of Tooele; daughters, Janet Yvonne Adams, of Las Vegas, NV; Lee Ann and husband, Earl Whittaker, of Salt Lake; Jeanine Kay Fairchild and husband, Uriah Hulsy, of Astoria, Oregon; and Marlene Fairchild, of Salt Lake; sisters, Mae Cramer, Holbrook, AZ; and Bonita Nichols of Pocatello, Idaho. He had eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 11, 1998 at 11 a.m. at the Centerville 7th Ward, 270 No. 300 East, with viewing one hour prior. Viewing March 10 from 6-8 p.m. at Lakeview Memorial Estates Mortuary, 1640 E. Lakeview Dr., Bountiful. Interment at Lakeview Memorial Estates.
