Gordon Doyle Ross, our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, age 60, passed away unexpectedly on March 6, 1998 at home in Sandy.

Born May 2, 1937 to Max and Ora Lee Ross (both deceased). He was raised by Chet and Thelma Simmons in Lewiston, where he graduated from North Cache High School. He became State Wrestling Champion in 1955. He was captain of the team. He also was a Golden Glove Boxing Champion. He married Charlene Marie Pack on October 2, 1959 whom he loved and cherished for 38 years. He served his country by joining the Army. He worked for Hercules, Inc. for 33 years, retiring in 1996.He wasn't ready for retirement, so after two years he became a Consultant for Aldila, another carbon fiber manufacturing company doing what he loved best. Other enjoyments in his life included camping, fishing, and basketball, but most of all, being with the "US" bunch or watching his favorite teams, the Utes and the Jazz, play.

Survived by his wife; sons, Rodney Olson; Max (Nancy) Ross; daughter, Cindy (Cory) Wardell; eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild; mother-in-law, Louetta Meldrum; brother-in-law, Gary (Sherri) Meldrum; sister-in-law, Nadene (Guy) Matthews; Uncle Jay and Dudley Proctor, Panguitch; two brothers, Sid and Johnny; four sisters, Bonnie, Julie, Sally, Lonny; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, 12 noon, at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road, where friends may call Tuesday, 5-8 p.m., and Wednesday, 11-11:45 a.m. Interment: Larkin Sunset Gardens.
