Albert John Castagno passed away at his home on Friday, March 6, 1998, surrounded by his loving family after a lifetime of devotion, love and hard work.
He was born April 27, 1922 in Salt Lake City, to Barnard and Mae Castagno. He married his high school sweetheart, Bernice Bleazard on June 9, 1941. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He was a member of the LDS Church and served as a valiant home teacher. He was retired from the Utah Department of Transportation as a maintenance supervisor.He will be remembered for his devotion to his family, his quick wit and great sense of humor, his horsemanship and ranching. His greatest love was his wife "flower". He was noted for the nicknames he gave to all his family members.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years; sons, Bill (Lynette) and Bob (Phyllis); daughters, Pat Chatwin and Carolee (Roger) Cowan, all of Grantsville; 15 grandchildren, Todd, Greg, Brett, Jodi, and Kristi Castagno; John, Ryan, Scott and Peter Chatwin; Casey and Marty Castagno; Jenny Thacker, Allison, Brent, and Sarah Cowan; 12 great-grandchildren; one brother, and three sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, March 11, 1998 in the Grantsville Utah Stake Center, 550 East Durfee Street, Grantsville, Utah. A viewing will be held Tuesday evening, March 10 from 6 to 8 p.m. and one hour prior to the services.
