A fire in a west Salt Lake industrial park did an estimated $75,000 damage and sent three Easton Aluminum employees to the hospital for observation Friday night, according to Salt Lake Fire Department Capt. Devin Villa.
The fire started in solvent used to cool cutting equipment in the fabrication plant at 5040 Harold Gatty Drive (500 North) in the International Center west of Salt Lake International Airport.The fire damaged equipment inside the building, which also suffered some smoke damage, Villa said.
The fire was reported at 6:45 p.m. and was under control by 7:25 p.m., Villa said. Some 30 fire-fighters responded.
Villa said more than 100 employees were evacuated from the building.
Three were taken to area hospitals, one for smoke inhalation and minor chest pains and the other two for observation, Villa said.
No firefighters were injured.
Villa said cause of the fire is under investigation.
