An early morning shooting left a Salt Lake man barely clinging to life Friday.

Police were called to 1206 W. Harris Ave. (1580 South) after someone heard a gunshot shortly before 2 a.m., according to a police report. The witness who heard the shot saw two men leaving the house after the shooting.Police arrived to find a 26-year-old man with a gunshot wound to the chest. He was taken to LDS Hospital in critical condition. A hospital spokesman said there had been no change in the man's condition at press time.

Officers are looking for a red Jeep Cherokee with no front grill, said Salt Lake Police Lt. Phil Kirk. Details about why the man was shot are still very sketchy, he said.
