Salt Lake-based World Wireless Communications Inc., a developer and manufacturer of wireless technology products, has formed the SCADA and Telemetry Division in Kansas City, Mo.

The division will focus on the development of SCADA - or supervisory control and data acquisition - and telemetry systems for oil and gas, utility management, vending and other industries.World Wireless officials said creation of the new division follows the company's recent agreement with Williams Telemetry Services to develop automatic meter reading products.

The wireless products will allow utility companies to monitor and acquire gas and water meter data from distant locations, World Wireless said. Utilities also will be able to identify problems as they occur.
