The United Way of Davis County board of directors has named Clearfield City manager Jack Bippes as it new chairman for 1998, replacing Steve Davis of JC Penney Telemarketing.

At its annual meeting on Feb. 10, the board also named Al Crawford, SPS Payment Services, as the new treasurer and Dr. James Saunders of the Davis County Health Department as its campaign chairman.Vernile Hess of Bountiful City Power & Light is the fund distribution chairman; William Moore, retired, is the planned giving chairman; and Mary Hall of JC Penney is the marketing chairwoman.

Wendell Wild, West Bountiful City manager, is the new campaign vice chairman; Bud Cox, Davis County Sheriff's Department, was named fund distribution vice chairman; Claude Snow of Security Title is the agency relations sub-committee chairman; and Willard Malmstrom, retired, is the planning committee sub-chairman.

Three new members of the board of directors were also selected to serve two-year terms - Susan Davis of Questar Corp.; Mart Bushnell, Computer Science Corp.; and Rob Hardison, United Parcel Service.

The following board members were re-nominated to serve two-year terms: Bippes; Joe Frana, Phillips 66 Company; Tom Hori, Redcon; Loren Martin, attorney; William Moore, retired; Frank Newman, retired; Carol Page, Davis County; and Saunders.

Kent Boam, Matrixx Marketing; Cox; Hess; Carolyn Sharp, First Security Bank; Snow; LeRoy Snyder, retired; and O. Wayne Thornock, retired, were all re-nominated to serve one-year terms on the board of directors.

The United Way of Davis County also honored three retiring board members: Jane Fraley, Frank-lin Covey, with five years of service; Mel Miles, Davis County School District, 10 years; and Jeff Utley, Flying J Refinery, 10 years.
