Donald Ostler Babcock, 86, passed away at his home in the care of his loving wife Venice, March 1, 1998, after an extended illness.

He was born May 31, 1911 in Spanish Fork, a son of George David and Charlotte Elizabeth Ostler Babcock. He married Venice Leona Winn in Vernal, October 24, 1932. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He was a High Priest in the South Cottonwood 11th LDS Ward and had served in many positions in the church including, bishop, high councilor, Scout Master, teacher and a temple worker in the Salt Lake LDS Temple for 15 years.He came to Salt Lake in 1933 where he worked at the Archie McFarland Meat Market. He took carpentry classes at West High School, worked on many school and store projects and was employed by the Granite School District before retiring. He was a member of the Carpenter's Local Union for 55 years.

Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Venice; sons, Dorral (Idonna) Babcock, Calvin (Annette) Babcock; daughter, Carol (Jed) Harris; nine grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren; four sisters, Alice, Melpha, Erma and Norma; and one brother, Dean.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Larry; four brothers and one sister.

Dad, we will miss your smile, your love, and all the stories of your youth. We will miss your teachings and guidance. We love you with all of our hearts.

Funeral services will be conducted Friday, March 6, 1998 at 11 a.m. in the South Cottonwood 11th LDS Ward Chapel, 5235 S. Wesley Rd. (1090 E.). Friends may call Thursday from 6-8 p.m. at Memorial Estates Mortuary 5850 S. 900 E. and one hour prior to the services at the church.
