More than 64,000 copies of the Deseret News will replace textbooks during the 16th annual "No Books Day" on Wednesday in Utah public, parochial and other schools.

Sponsored by the Deseret Newspaper in Education (NIE) Department, the program is observed during national Newspaper in Education Month and serves students in 407 public schools in all 40 of Utah's school districts, 36 pre-schools and other facilities. (See Page B6.)In addition to the newspaper, students and their teachers have received a variety of additional educational materials, including information about brain research and its impact on learning.

A special educational section, "Guess What My Brain Can Do?" designed to help students better understand how they learn, will accompany copies of the newspaper. The section was prepared in cooperation with the Utah Staff Development Council.

A number of schools will observe "No Books Day" at a later date.
