Scouters Eric Wahlin and Devan Steele, members of Taylorsville Post 6784, lift boxes filled with food and pass them on down the line to load into a truck for transporting to food pantries around the Salt Lake area. Scouts, National Guard personnel and thousands of other volunteers participated in the event. Contributions last year in the areas served by the Great Salt Lake and Utah National Parks councils of the Boy Scouts of America were valued at $2 million, all donated in a single day. Figures were still being tabulated late Saturday afternoon, but it appears the drive was successful, especially in view of recent heavy storms. "We are pleased with the generosity of the public," said volunteer Scouting leader and "Scouting for Food" drive chairman Dennis L. Crockett. (See story on Page B8.)
