Choreographer Tandy Beal will present a solo concert titled "Nightlife" at the Alice Sheets Marriott Center for Dance on the University of Utah campus Friday and Saturday, March 6-7.

Curtain for both performances is 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $10 general admission and $8 for seniors, students, and U. faculty and staff. U. students will be admitted for $4.The U. Marriott Center for Dance is north of 1500 East and South Campus Drive (400 South).

The central focus of the work is insomnia.

Beal is the artistic director of her own company in Santa Cruz, Calif., and the New Pickle Circus in San Francisco. She has been choreographing since 1974 and has more than 100 dance and theater selections in her repertory.

She has been awarded Dance Artist of the Year by the American Council for the Arts and is a frequent guest teacher at the U. modern dance department. Other Salt Lake companies that Beal has choreographed for include the Ririe-Woodbury Dance Company, the Repertory Dance Theatre and the U. Performing Dance Company.

Following Friday evening's performance, audience members are invited to attend a chat with Beal, U. Hospital Sleep Disorder Center medical director Christopher Jones; U. department of psychiatry assistant professor Laura Czajkowski and Deseret News dance critic Scott Iwasaki.
