Vivian Thelma Thompson 69, was reunited with her husband and twin sons on Feb. 26, 1998, after a valiant battle with cancer.

She was born April 8, 1928, and raised on a farm near Elk City, Kansas. Her family moved to California in 1944. She married Francis Lutie Thompson, Jr. on July 15, 1948, making their home in Mulvane, Kansas. They had seven children, five survived. Vivan was an accomplished seamstress, artist, carpenter, cake decorator, house designer, cook, and friend. In 1964, she was Worthy Matron of the Order of Eastern Star.Vivan and her children joined the LDS Church on Sept. 12, 1970. She served in many positions, including a 3 year mission to the Cambodian Branch in Wichita, KS. She served four years as Mayor of Mulvane. She moved to South Jordan, Utah in 1992 to be close to her two daughters.

She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Francis; twin sons, Kurt and Burt; brothers Julius Owen Ballinger , Glenn Ballinger .

She is survived by sister Mary Scott (Bob) OK; sons Francis L, III (Karin) CA, Charles W. (Kathy)AK, Virgil K ( Margie), MN; daughters Verneita Hunt (Zera), UT, Faith Wallin, (Gary), UT; Grandchildren Clarissa, Johnathon, Michelle, and Andrew Hunt; Heather, Lutie, Rachael, Jennifer, Nicholas, Stephanie, Vivian, Casey, Lynette, Melissa, Jason, and Samuel Thompson; Julia, Gabriel, and Glenn Thompson; Mathew Thompson; Alex Wallin; great granddaughter Rebecca Hunt.

Funeral services will be held Monday, March 2, 1998, 11 am at the Parkway 1st Ward, 9894 So. 2700 West. Friends may call Sunday from 5-7 pm at Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 4760 So. State, Murray and one hour prior to services at the church on Monday. Interment South Jordan City Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers family suggests donations to the American Cancer Society or the LDS missionary fund.
