So the Utah Supreme Court Chief Justice Michael Zimmerman and court clerks are bemoaning the fact that so many more people are representing themselves in court rather than using attorneys, thereby making judges' work slower. That problem could be solved without one cent being paid by the taxpayers. Simply do what 28 other states in America have already done, allow independent paralegals to operate in Utah.

It would mean the Utah Supreme Court would have to reverse the ruling in Bar vs. Petersen. But then that would make so many Utah judges so happy because their workload would be so much lighter. We won't even mention the fact that those representing themselves would stop irritating those poor overworked court clerks.Benton L. Petersen
