Hazel Anne Galloway Richards, age 68, passed away February 19, 1998 of a lingering illness.
Born August 24, 1929, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Charles Wesley and Florence Austin Galloway. Married Lee Gill Richards in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on March 16, 1951. She attended high schools in Logan and Salt Lake City and also the University of Utah.Hazel was an active member of the LDS Church where she held positions of leadership and teaching. She had an unquenchable thirst for knowledge and deep appreciation of the beauty of nature which she loved to share with others. Having to endure pain and physical weakness throughout most of her life motivated her to a life-long study of health and nutrition. She wrote a book on nutritional cooking and gave lectures on food storage and emergency preparedness.
Her life was centered around her immediate and extended families whom she served with unselfish devotion and love. She delighted in spending time with her grandchildren for whom she was a great source of fun, strength and inspiration.
Survived by her husband, Lee; her children, Jennie (Mark) Zelig, Michael (Paulette) Richards, and Annette Richards; one grandson and nine granddaughters; a sister, Lillian (Wayne) Best, brothers, Wesley (Georgia) Galloway, Gerald (Veloris) Galloway, Darold (Bonnie) Galloway.
Funeral services will be held at noon on Tuesday, February 24, 1998 in the Olympus Stake Center, 2675 East 4430 South. Friends may call on Monday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, 3401 South Highland Drive, and at the church on Tuesday from 10:45-11:45 a.m. prior to services. Entombment Wasatch Lawn Mausoleum.
