Eight additional child abuse charges involving six children were filed Wednesday against a Riverton man who was charged last year with molesting six children over a five-year period.
Larry Eugene Griffith, 54, was charged in 3rd District Court with four counts of aggravated sexual abuse of a child, first-degree felonies; attempted sexual abuse of a child, a third-degree felony; and three counts of dealing in harmful material to a minor, third-degree felonies.Griffith was charged in December with six counts of aggravated sexual abuse of a child, first-degree felonies, and three counts of dealing in harmful material to a minor, third-degree felonies. He was released from the Salt Lake County Jail in December on $200,000 bail, but a $100,000 arrest warrant was issued with the new charges.
In December, authorities were investigating at least 20 other similar cases of abuse over a 20-year period.
According to the latest charges, Griffith allegedly fondled four girls between 1993 and 1997. The girls are now between 12 and 14 years old.
In 1995, Griffith tried to fondle a 13-year-old girl, the charges state. In three cases, one involving a 7-year-old girl, Griffith allegedly showed his victims pornographic videos.
During the abuse, all of the victims were either at their homes or Griffith's home, according to the charges.
The six previous cases also involved young teenage children. A preliminary hearing for those cases is scheduled for next week.
