Sometimes you get two, maybe three swings at the ball before you hit it out of the Utah House.
House Majority Whip Kevin Garn will take one more swing - and probably get that hit - on his attempt to change the citizen initiative law to place more counties in the mix.Currently, citizens must secure signatures of registered voters from 15 of Utah's 29 counties. Under Garn's bill, the number of counties would increase to 20.
Garn said he wants to make any initiative truly "a statewide issue." And the best way to do that would be to get signatures, and support, from more counties.
But Tuesday afternoon Garn's efforts fell short by just two votes. He later recalled the bill, saying he would try again after talking to some of those who voted no.
