A teenage boy was hit in the leg Saturday after two carloads of gang members exchanged a barrage of bullets at a gas station.

The gunfight broke out about 7:45 p.m., said West Valley Police Sgt. Randy Lloyd. One car pulled into the Chevron, 3984 W. 3900 South, to get gas, and the other car pulled in and stopped a few feet away.A boy in the first car was hit in the leg, Lloyd said. He went home and his parents took him to Pioneer Valley Hospital, where he was treated and released for minor injuries.

Stray bullets shattered windows in the gas station. Tiny pieces of glass sprayed a woman inside the store. She was also treated for minor injuries.

Police located and pulled over one of the cars Saturday night. An 18-year-old was arrested in connection with the shooting and a handgun was recovered. Officers were still looking for the second car, Lloyd said.
