Defiant as ever, Larry Flynt dared Cincinnati authorities to arrest him for selling X-rated videos in the city that once prosecuted him on obscenity charges.
The publisher of Hustler magazine has added more adult merchandise to his bookstore since the City Council passed an emergency ordinance cracking down on business with a "significant" - but undefined - portion of sexually-oriented merchandise."I'll fight this battle on either front - either the zoning issue or the obscenity issue," Flynt said Wednesday. "The ball's in the city's court."
Flynt's 1977 conviction for pandering obscenity was overturned two years later. While there is no city law against selling Hustler, many vendors say they would fear prosecution if they were to try.
