Emma Sykes Eberhart passed away peacefully in her sleep on February 15, 1998 at a local hospital.

Born on January 20, 1912 in Columbus, Mississippi. Emma moved to Salt Lake City in 1945 with her husband M.C. Eberhart, they later divorced. She dedicated over 30 years to foster care and being a parent. She received many acknowledgment awards for her hard work.Survived by her son, Thomas Sykes, niece, Amanda C. Crenshaw, both of Salt Lake City; nephew, Joseph Scott of Sacramento, California; grandchildren, Violetta Sykes, Laura Sykes, both of Salt Lake City; special great-grandchild, Tommy Williams; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. Preceded in death by her mother, Johanna Sykes, and sisters, Savilla Cobb and Mary Lou Sykes.

Viewing Friday 6-8 p.m. February 20, 1998 at Deseret Memorial Mortuary, 36 East 700 South, Salt Lake City, Utah. Graveside services will be held on February 21, 1998, 11 a.m. at Redwood Memorial Estates, 6500 So. Redwood Road, West Jordan, Utah. Funeral Directors, Deseret Memorial Mortuary.
