Heavy fog lifted just in time for a Delta II rocket to blast off from Cape Canaveral Air Station before the mission's launch window closed Saturday.

Fog rolled in so suddenly that Boeing officials let the launch clock run down to two minutes before clear blue skies suddenly turned gray, blocking visibility and temporarily delaying the launch.Liftoff was finally achieved at 9:34 a.m. for the rocket that Boeing had been trying to launch since Feb. 5 but which had suffered four weather delays.

The Delta II mission will deploy four Globalstar Telecommunications Ltd satellites into low Earth orbit.
