Northwest Intermediate School presented Utah's first lady, Colleen Bangerter, a special banner - "The Challenge: Drug-Free Schools" - to honor her efforts in drug prevention.

Bangerter received the recognition from the school's Peer Leadership Team, which uses skits and educational programs to promote healthy, drug-free lifestyles at the school. The team is under the direction of school counselor Hi Gregory.Student body president Jamie Dinh and principal James McCoy also proudly showed Bangerter the school's national award for its work in combating drugs in the schools. Earlier this month, the U.S. Education Department named Northwest one of 30 top U.S. schools with drug-prevention programs. Dinh received the award from Nancy Reagan at the White House.
