A clerk said an arraignment date is pending.Nelson, 33, Harrisville, Weber County, already is serving at least 30 years in prison on his guilty pleas to 13 similar charges in Weber County, and also is a suspect in burglaries and sex crimes in Arizona, Nevada and Wyoming.
Iron County Attorney Scott Burns has charged Nelson with five counts each of aggravated sexual abuse and aggravated burglary and a two counts of theft in connection with sex-related crimes in the Cedar City area.
The sexual assaults on five women all occurred at residences near the Southern Utah State College campus, Burns said.
Nelson pleaded guilty April 27 in 2nd District Court to four counts each of rape, sodomy and aggravated burglary and to a single count of forcible sexual abuse.
In the Ogden-area cases, Judge John Wahlquist sentenced Nelson to a minimum term of 30 years in prison and up to life. In exchange for his guilty plea, Weber County prosecutors agreed not to bring charges against the truck driver in a dozen other sexual assaults.
