The gymnastics rankings are up, and so are the Cougars and Aggies while the Utes came off their season-high score to drop a spot and the Thunderbirds tumbled out of the Top 25.
The ratings, delayed a day due to technical difficulties, have BYU at 13th, up from 16th, and Utah State leaping into that spot from No. 25 thanks to a 195.325 score in a win over California. (The Aggies posted a 195.825-194.700 win over Southern Utah on Monday that will be reflected in next week's rankings.)
Meanwhile, Utah is coming off Friday's season-best 197.85 in a home win over Washington to increase its Regional Qualifying Score (an average of six scores, at least three from road meets, with the high thrown out) to 196.96. But Louisiana State wrested the No. 1 ranking from Utah at 196.99. Nebraska is third (196.75) and Alabama fourth (196.67) followed by UCLA (196.10).
Utah also fell from first to second behind LSU in balance beam rankings and went from third to fifth on bars.
Ute freshman Ashley Postell remains the nation's No. 3 all-arounder (39.535), while teammates Nicolle Ford (39.425) moved up a notch to fourth and Annabeth Eberle (39.405) took over sixth from eighth. Ute Rachel Tidd (39.255) dropped from 18th to a tie for 19th with BYU's Jaime Mabray, who was 19th last week also.
Postell (9.925) moved up to No. 2 on beam after scoring her first perfect 10 Friday (that score doesn't count but allowed her to count a 9.95 in the RQS).
Utah has its final home regular-season meet Friday, starting with alumnae introductions at 6:45 p.m. prior to competition against Arizona State. USU closes out its regular season at Denver Saturday, and BYU is at Southern Utah Saturday at 7 p.m. That completes the T-Bird regular season.
