W. Matthew Murdoch apparently knows "How the Right to Own Property Contributes to Americans' Pride in Their Heritage." At least, his essay on the subject won him first-place honors in a contest conducted by the Salt Lake Board of Realtors.
Matthew, son of Mr. and Mrs. William R. Murdoch, won a $500 one-year savings certificate at First Federal Savings & Loan for his top honors.Emily Taylor, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Grant H. Taylor, was second, and third-place honors went to Stacy Muramoto, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gary Muramoto.
The essay contest was part of the Salt Lake Board of Realtors celebration of American Home Week, an annual event that reaffirms Americans' constitutional freedom to own private property. Murdoch's winning essay will be entered in a nationwide competition sponsored by the National Association of Realtors.
