Virginia Faye Rasmussen, loving wife, mother and friend passed away peacefully at home with her family, Tuesday, November 11, 1997 after a courageous battle with cancer.
She was born February 16, 1939 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Fritz and Louise Scharffs. She married Dr. Jack K. Rasmussen in Salt Lake City, Utah on September 14, 1961 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.Virginia was a kind, caring woman, developing lasting friendships and positively touching in some way all those with whom she came in contact. She was a loving mother and dedicated herself to caring for the family that she cherished as her most prized possession. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, having served in numerous organizational positions throughout her life.
She is survived by her husband, Dr. Jack K. Rasmussen; children, Elyse Orr (Greg); Kristin Carter (Brian); Suzanne Nelson (Trent); Karlyn Rasmussen; Jonathan Rasmussen and David Rasmussen (currently serving an LDS mission in the Philippines, Cebu Mission); seven beautiful grandchildren; siblings, Gilbert Scharffs, Joseph Scharffs and Donna Hunt. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral services will be held at 12 noon on Saturday, November 15, 1997 in the Mount Olympus North Stake Center located at 3930 East 4155 South, Salt Lake City, UT. Family and friends may call on Friday evening at the Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, 3401 South Highland Drive from 6-8 p.m. and at the Stake Center on Saturday from 10:45-11:45 a.m. prior to services. Interment Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.
