The temperature hit 90 degrees Tuesday at the Salt Lake International Airport, matching a record for May 24 that was set in 1934 and tied in 1961.

Meteorologist Mike Conger said the Salt Lake International Airport record high for both May 25 and 26 is 92 degrees. He doubted that figure would be topped Wednesday.Temperatures are expected to cool a little by the weekend in northern Utah. The temperature should drop to the low to mid-80s by Saturday and to the 70s Sunday and Monday. Temperatures will be about 20 degrees warmer in Utah's Dixie.

Tuesday evening was marked with 53 mph wind gusts and thunderstorms at the airport. Delta and Wendover had 40 mph gusts and Bryce Canyon 32.
