A Salt Lake man has been ordered to tell a federal judge why he should not be punished for contempt of court "for failure to obey a lawful order of this court."
U.S. District Judge David K. Winder ordered Lee J. Herold, address listed as 917 W. Colmar Ave., Apt. C, to appear for a hearing June 18 before him.
The order says that on Feb. 19, Herold was ordered by the court to provide information to the Internal Revenue Service as enumerated in an IRS summons. The court records show this order was mailed to him three days later, Winder wrote.
It appears from IRS memoranda that Herold failed to deliver the information, and now the agency is moving for a fine to reimburse it for its collection efforts, Winder added.
