A Salt Lake woman repelled two attackers early Sunday in Sugarhouse Park by kicking one in the face with her wooden shoes, police reported.

The woman, 18, was walking through the park about 1 a.m. when two men ran up behind her. One of them grabbed and tore her shorts, tackling her to the ground. As the attacker began to assault her sexually, she resisted and was struck on the head, suffering a bruise, police said.

The woman fought back by scratching the assailant's face, pulling his hair and kicking him in the face. She was then able to get up and run away, police reported.
