A seven-year employee of the St. George City power department has been suspended with pay while allegations of wrongdoing are investigated, officials said Tuesday.

Clawson Hunt Jr. was suspended for 30 days pending completion of an investigation, said Wayne McArthur, city water and power department director.Officials gave no reason for the suspension, but City Attorney Ted Shumway said Hunt had been accused by unspecified individuals of malfeasance or misfeasance.

Paid suspensions of employees are common when allegations are being looked into, Shumway said, adding, "It very well could be nothing."
