Stanley Dennis Preece, age 57, husband, father, grandfather, brother, friend and coach passed away on April 25, 1997 due to a stroke.
He was born on March 4, 1940 in Vernal, Utah to Pearl Jenkins Preece and Alma Dean Preece. He married Mary Ann Schattinger on March 21, 1964 in Craig, Colorado, marriage later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Dennis graduated from Moffat County High School in 1958, and from the University of Northern Colorado in 1964. Member of the Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity.In thirty three years of teaching and 25 years of coaching he accomplished nine state championships in wrestling, one in golf and was the National High School Wrestling Coach of the year in 1976. Spent much of his time oil painting and doing genealogy.
Dennis is survived by his wife, Mary Ann; children, Brian Preece; Deanna (John) Meyer; Scott Preece; and granddaughter, Samantha Adair Meyer, all of Salt Lake City; one sister, Linda Faye (Phil) Pinnt of Hayden, Colorado. Preceded in death by his mother and father and brother, Larry Dean Preece.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday April 29, 1997 in the Wasatch Lawn Mortuary Chapel, 3401 South Highland Drive, where friends may call on Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. and on Tuesday from 12:45 to 1:45 p.m. prior to services. Entombment, Wasatch Lawn Mausoleum.
