A prison inmate remained at large Wednesday after escaping Tuesday from University Hospital, where he had been treated for a severed tendon.

Leon Redding, 30, who would have been paroled next February following a one-year term for attempted aggravated assault, slipped through his leg shackles about 5 a.m. Tuesday and sneaked away from his room while a guard was downstairs assisting with the admission of another patient from the prison.Redding was under observation at the hospital following surgery on his left wrist. Redding is to be considered dangerous. He is Caucasian, about 6 feet 2 inches tall, about 170 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes.
