Dale Van Atta, who shares a byline with Washington-based investigative reporter Jack Anderson, will speak May 26 at Weber State College.
The convocation, sponsored by the Associated Students of WSC, will begin at 10:30 a.m. in the Browning Center for the Performing Arts. It is free and open to the public.Van Atta, a former Deseret News reporter, now writes the column "Washington Merry-Go-Round" with Anderson, published regularly in the Deseret News. Van Atta's investigative reporting has won him the scrutiny and fury of presidents, CIA directors and world leaders from Brezhnev to Yassar Arafat.
His columns on CIA employee Edwin Wilson's activities in Libya convinced Muammar Gadhafi that the CIA was out to assassinate him. Following Gadhafi's interrogation of Wilson, the reporter wrote that Wilson ordered Van Atta's assassination.
Van Atta has been nominated for the Pulitzer Prize five times and is a contributor to many international and national magazines and newspapers.
