Two additional traffic lanes will be built along a 44-mile corridor of I-70 in Sevier and Emery counties.

The Utah Department of Transportation will add two lanes on the north side of the existing two lanes from Castle Valley to Rattlesnake Bench. A diamond interchange and a view area at Sand Bench are planned.Five separate projects will be required involving 11 structures, including one major steel arch structure over Eagle Canyon.

The corridor is the only section of I-70 lacking four lanes or where construction isn't completed. Most of the freeway has now been completed with four lanes, although some construction work remains in Sevier Valley.

A section from the south Richfield interchange to Clear Creek Canyon has been surfaced, but signing and painting is not completed. UDOT officials say the section will open to traffic within a few weeks.
