A Utah federal jury Friday convicted a Southern California man on charges he transported a minor female across state lines for prostitution.

Judge David Winder scheduled a July 15 sentencing date for Casey Hagood, 23, Los Angeles. Hagood will remain in custody in a federal halfway house in Salt Lake City until his sentencing, prosecutors said.

Hagood was indicted Nov. 19, 1987, on allegations he met the teenage girl in Salt Lake City in March 1987 and convinced her to travel with him to Los Angeles where he had her work as a prostitute.

The defendant was arrested after the girl called her parents.
