An American Fork man charged with intentionally running over and killing a Pleasant Grove man last fall has pleaded guilty to manslaughter, a second-degree felony, following plea negotiations.

Fourth District Judge Boyd L. Park set sentencing July 8 for Frank Gene Powell, 29. Powell originally was to face trial May 23 on charges of second-degree homicide, a first-degree felony, in the death of Glen H. Candland, 20. Candland was run over by a pickup last Nov. 29 following an early-morning argument in front of a southwest Pleasant Grove residence.

Candland died a short time later in American Fork Hospital. Before dying, however, he provided investigators with information about the incident. Powell, who faces a possible sentence of one to 15 years in the state prison and a $10,000 fine, turned himself in after hiding from authorities for about a week following the incident.
