Two Laotian immigrants died Thursday afternoon in what police said was an apparent homicide-suicide following a lovers' quarrel.

Police identified the female victim as Chanthavone Phoukhomt, 17, Ogden. Police said that Phaythoune Chanthavisith, 24, also of Ogden, apparently killed her and then took his own life.A report said police were called to the victim's home in west Ogden about 5:30 p.m. where they found her lying in the living room. The man was found in the bedroom.

Both suffered bullet wounds to the head and were pronounced dead on arrival at a local hospital, police said. A .25-caliber handgun was found at the scene, the report said.

According to witnesses, the couple had recently split up, and Chanthavisith went to the woman's home about 4:30 p.m. Thursday. Witnesses said he left a short time later and appeared upset.

Chanthavisith went back to the house about an hour later and two "pops" were heard. Police were then notified.
