Wild Goose Co., 375 Whitney Ave., a company providing hands-on science ideas and products to elementary schools and teachers, was recognized Thursday as the fastest-growing Utah company during the MountainWest Venture Group's second annual Utah 100 event at the Salt Lake Hilton.
In another category, Franklin Quest Co., 2200 W. Parkway Blvd., West Valley City, a company that provides personal productivity seminars to corporations and the public and manufacturers personal planning products, was named the top revenue growth company.The awards are based on a company's growth between 1991 and 1995. According to information provided by Dale Richards, Moun-tain-West Venture Group chair-man and president of Excel Management Systems Inc., the 100 companies honored Thursday had $1 billion in sales in 1991. That figure increased to $2.7 billion in 1995.
The smallest company honored had sales of $26,000 in 1991 that increased to $125,000 in 1995. The company with the highest sales increased from $218 million in 1991 to $283 million in 1995. To qualify for this year's list a company needed at least a 500 percent increase in growth.
Gov. Mike Leavitt said, "These companies reflect the innovation, initiative and energy that makes Utah a great place to live and work. I commend them for their hard work and contributions to the Utah economy."
