Funeral for Utah educator and businessman Wayne S. Brown, his wife, Joyce, and three members of their family will begin at 10 a.m. May 21 in the Federal Heights Ward chapel, 1300 Fairfax Road.
The prominent Salt Lake couple were killed in a plane crash Tuesday near Albuquerque, N.M. Also killed upon impact were their son, Gary, 31; his wife, Melissa, 26, and their daughter, Lindsey, 2.Wayne Brown, 60, was a former dean of the University of Utah College of Engineering and president and founder of the Utah Innovation Center, a program set up through a National Science Foundation grant to market technical innovations.
His wife, Joyce, 58, was a key financial adviser, serving as one of the corporate heads of Kenway Inc., a company her husband co-founded.
A volunteer at the University of Utah's Museum of Fine Arts, Mrs. Brown was an accomplished painter and art collector. She held many ward and stake leadership positions in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the ward chapel. A short family viewing will be held from 9 to 10 a.m. Saturday.
