Richard Edgley, Centerville, and Jay L. Atwood, Sandy, have been elected to the board of directors of Franklin Institute Inc., a Salt Lake-based company specializing in productivity seminars and publishers of the Franklin Day Planner.

Edgley, who is managing director of the Office of Finance and Records for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, has been an adviser to the company. Atwood is a vice president and Franklin's chief financial officer.Edgley received a bachelor's degree from Brigham Young University and a master's degree from Indiana University. He worked for General Mills for 19 years and was a vice president when he resigned to accept his current position.

Atwood received an accounting degree from BYU and has been involved with the Utah Society of Certified Public Accountants and local chapters of the National Association of Accountants. He has worked with Deloitte Haskins & Sells in the United States and South America.
