Salt Lake City Councilwoman Roselyn Kirk says the city doesn't get enough value for the $20,000 it spends to fund the Salt Lake County Council of Governments.
In her search to cut the city's budget, Kirk wants to stop funding the Council of Governments, an advisory board made up of valley mayors and the Salt Lake County commissioners."I'm not going to say what I think of COG," Kirk said. "In my opinion, there is not communication there. We listen to reports."
But Councilwoman Sydney Fonnesbeck said "We have to do this one. It's the only time we talk to mayors in every other city in the county."
