A longtime employee of Skaggs Alpha Beta Inc. says she was forced to quit her job because of sex and age discrimination.

In a $540,000 U.S. District Court suit, Janice M. Gomm, West Bountiful, says she worked continuously for the company from 1963 until 1986 except for one month during 1964.According to the suit, male employees who were less qualified than Gomm were given better promotional opportunities, higher salaries and greater benefits than she.

She was a lobby manager at the time of her termination on March 30, 1986, according to the suit. The action seeks $250,000 in actual damages, $250,000 in punitive damages, and $40,00 for emotional distress.
